The Counter-Strike Global Offensive ranking system is one of the most important systems for a counter-strike player. As players, we take a lot of pride in boasting about our ranks as they represent how good we are at the game. We will guide you on how to rankup in csgo the easiest ways possible! Officially there’s not much information about how the ranking system works. So, we’re going to show you how you can rank up in CS:GO using the information we’ve collected.

How CS:GO Ranks work?

If you’re new to CS:GO, you’re going to have to set aside a few hours to place your account into one of the 18 ranks. To unlock competitive matchmaking in CS:GO you first have to reach Private Rank 2. This means you’ll have to play a few deathmatches and normal matches before you can jump into competitive play.

·         For getting your first rank, You’ll have to win 10 placement matches, this is limited to 2 wins per day. You cannot queue with a player who is Master Guardian 2 or higher unless you queue with a full team of 5. This system was implemented to combat smurfing but it only works to some extent.

·         Once you win 10 matches, you will be assigned to one of the 18 skill groups. This will be heavily dependent on how you perform in the match. After this, you won’t be limited and you can play as many matches as you like. Your skill group will now be displayed in your profile rank.

Note that you can only queue with players +/- 5 ranks from your rank or else you have to queue with a full team of 5.

·         The rankup in csgo system will adjust your rank at the end of each game depending on a win or loss. You might get assigned to a lower or higher skill group based on wins and losses. Valve does not openly tell us how it works, but the best way to rank up is to keep winning as a team consistently.

·         Being inactive and not playing a competitive match for more than a month will make your competitive skill group disappear, the only way to get it back is to win or draw a match. During this time, you can’t queue with players who are Master Guardian 2 or higher until you get it back.

What are the Ranks?

The CSGO Competitive ladder has 18 different ranks that players can place in. As you move up the competitive ladder, players will be more skilled meaning that you can’t easily rankup in csgo without improving your skills as well. Though rank does not represent your skill in-game, it does represent what you might be capable of.

The starting 6 are the ranks in which newcomers are placed in. These are all silver accounts and are called the low group. The Low Group starts from Silver 1 -> Silver 2 -> Silver III -> Silver IV -> Silver Elite -> Silver Elite Master. There’s almost little to no strategy in these ranks, it is also where players learn to play the game. Escaping these ranks into Gold Nova is pretty difficult due to a large number of Smurfs in the silver ranks.

The next 7 ranks are where the majority of CSGO players are distributed. The first 4 Gold Nova rankup in csgo are called the low middle. It starts from Gold Nova I -> Gold Nova II -> Gold Nova III -> Gold Nova Master. Gold nova players are players who know more about the game and can perform well.

The Master Guardians are the last 3 Ranks that are called the strong middle. It starts from Master Guardian I -> Master Guardian II -> Master Guardian Elite -> Distinguished Master Guardian. These players are generally very advanced in gameplay. They know how to rotate, eco, flash, smoke, and so on without anyone having to tell them.

The remaining 4 ranks are where the Pros and Highly skilled players are in, this is called the Elite group. It starts from Legendary Eagle -> Legendary Eagle Master -> Supreme Master First Class and finally to Global Elite. You don’t want to mess with these guys, they’re very good at tapping heads and catching you off guard.

Lots of players that are new to Counter-Strike tend to be placed in one of the silver ranks. Secondly, The majority of players are in the gold nova and master guardian to rankup in csgo, this is because there are lots of players that are playing the game for years. These players have a lot of knowledge about the game and strong gun mechanics that they easily climb to these ranks.

Lastly, the aspiring pros and eSport players are at the top of the ladder which is why there are very few of them.

How hard is it to rankup in CSGO?

In 2015, a Valve employee accidentally mentioned that rankup in csgo based is matchmaking on the  Glicko-2 ranking system, though this system has been substantially improved ever since. The exact specifics of the system are not revealed because then players would try to cheat the system instead of improving themselves.

If you’ve ever played any competitive game that has a player vs player element you must’ve come across the term “Elo”. This is a system in which each player is assigned a set of points, the difference between their points indicates the expected outcome of the game. The winner of the game gains points from taking points from the loser.

When the player with the higher rank wins, he gains fewer points than the lower-ranked player. Alternatively, when the lower rank player wins he gains more points than the higher-ranked player.

Glicko-2 is a modified Elo system in which your hidden points called MatchMaking Rank (MMR) is used. The MMR of a player will depend on many factors since CS:GO is not a game meant for 1v1. Teamwork is all that matters in this game of 5v5, due to this there are many factors such as K/D ratios, MVPs, bomb defuses, and so on contribute to the hidden MMR. Although the exact factors are not known there are a few true things.

·         Nobody except Valve knows the exact details of the rankup in csgo, even if a player thinks they do there are lots of variable factors that are taken into account that it is quite impossible. You’ll be better off focusing on winning the game than trying to beat the system.

·         The more games you play, the harder it becomes to change your skill group. There is something known as “Rating Deviation”; this value becomes more accurate the longer you play. This is because the system will try to obtain your true rank to match you more accurately with your skill group.

It is difficult to rankup in csgo, especially if you are a solo player since players on your team might not listen to calls, or have the mindset to work as a team. On the other side, if you are queuing with a premade 5 stack then you mostly will be matched against a premade 5 stack as well. In the end, it comes down to which team can work together the most.

How do you rankup in CSGO fast?

There are a few things you can do to improve your mechanics and game sense which will help you climb the ranks easily. You can use some of the console commands to help you accomplish this easily.

·         Make sure you are comfortable with your crosshair and in-game sensitivity.

·         Practice weapons and their spray patterns.

·         Try to aim your crosshair at the enemy players head at all times.

·         Warmup in a custom game or training map before you jump into a ranked match.

·         Practice a single map and learn all the important map callouts, spots for smokes, flashes, grenades and Molotov.

·         Learn to cooperate with your teammates. Be ready to lead the team if no one does.

Lastly, being a better player, improving mechanics and game sense is the first thing you should do, improving your rank is secondary. If you win enough games, then you will rank up. Similarly, if you lose a lot of games then you derank.

How long does it take to rank up in CSGO?

If you’re playing CS:GO competitively then you might’ve asked yourself the same question. Firstly, There is no fixed value of games that you need to win in order to rankup in csgo. It all depends on who you are matched against. If you are matched against a team of Global elites and win then you will gain lots of points but if you are matched with a silver tier team and win, then you will most definitely gain less points.

The more wins you have, the higher your chances of rankup in csgo. Playing with a premade party of the same or higher skill group and working together also increases your chances of ranking up. Avoid partying with lower-skilled friends with skill groups far apart from yours if you want to purely rank up, losses will hurt your chances of ranking up drastically.
